Marie Strait has been making quilts and teaching quilting skills for nearly 40 years. She describes herself as a split personality quilter, making traditional quilts with a contemporary twist as well as enjoying the challenge of art quilts informed by her traditional roots. As a nod to her fore-mothers and in an attempt to use fabric collected over the years, she has focused on scrap quilts, gaining experience in the importance of value over color. Currently Marie teaches for quilt guilds and at A Work of Heart Studio. She is also the former president of the Santa Clara Valley Quilters Association. |
