South First Fridays are an eclectic evening of arts and culture in downtown San Jose’s SoFA arts district, centered on South First Street. Held on the first Friday of every month, the arts venues on South First Street are all open from 8 until 11pm and offer free admission and a wide variety of live entertainment. It’s a lively scene attended by arts-lovers of all ages. |

Get ready to explore the many cultures in our community with this popular program. Join us each month as we celebrate a different tradition through story and a hands-on art project. Kids Create is a multicultural arts program for children aged 5-10.
Materials fee: $7.50. Must pay materials fee in advance to confirm reservation. Fee may be paid online or at 408.971.0323 x14. Walk-ins accepted only if there is room at the session.

Get a rare glimpse into the fascinating, fertile world of present-day Navajo weaving with a panel discussion with collector Gary Beaudoin, Navajo weaver Brenda Spencer, and Steve Getzwiller, collector, trader, and collaborative-innovator of Navajo weaving for over 35 years. The community forum follows a reception starting at 1pm.
Note that due to unforeseen circumstances Teresa J. Wilkins will no longer be part of this program.

A retrospective exhibition is an opportunity for the artist to look backward in time in a positive way, taking time to recreate the journey through their art making. Through images, stories and the occasional poem, Schulze will illustrate and comment on her early ambitions, the surprises and events which sustained her pursuing a career in art while being a wife of 50+ years, mother of four and grandmother of 13. The big question remains—why the material world of embroidery, quilts and collage.
