South First Fridays are an eclectic evening of arts and culture in downtown San Jose's SoFA arts district, centered on South First Street. Held on the first Friday of every month, the arts venues on South First Street are all open from 7 until 11pm and offer free admission and a wide variety of live entertainment. It's a lively scene attended by arts-lovers of all ages.

Kids Create

Get ready to explore the many cultures in our community with this popular program. Join us each month as we celebrate a different tradition through story and a hands-on art project. Kids Create is a multicultural arts program for children aged 5-10.
Program fee: $5.00. Must pay program fee in advance to confirm reservation. Fee may be paid online or at 408.971.0323 x14. Walk-ins accepted only if there is room at the session.

Insights into Quilt National '12

Nelda Warkentin, QN '12 juror and artist, will offer information and observations about the exhibition and the jury process. As a way of introducing herself, Warkentin will also discuss her work, its evolution and where its headed. Following her presentation, a 'juror's walk' will highlight several of the quilts in the exhibition.

Warkentin is a fiber artist with gallery representation in Anchorage AK and Boston MA. Her quilts have been exhibited in the U.S. and internationally, including the U.S. Embassies in Belgium, Russia and South Africa. Her work, featured in the book, 'Masters: Art Quilts, Volume 2', has been juried 12 times into Quilt National and Visions. Warkentin is Treasurer of Studio Art Quilt Associates.
