Drop by the studio for stitching time on the dress for “the lost ones” while it is worn by a volunteer stitcher. Join in conversation about the plants and their stories with artist in residence Liz Harvey, and learn and share stitch how-to’s. This “stitch-in” holds a place for seeing and honoring our kinship with plants through the act of embroidery.
“the lost ones” is a five-year durational embroidery project by Liz Harvey that draws upon fashion, botany, performance and craft to explore how we regard species extinction, biodiversity, memorializing, loss and our relationship to plants. The project includes durational performances and stitch-ins welcoming participants to sew on a garment featuring dozens of endangered plants from around the world.
