Facility Rental

The San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles is a non-profit organization in downtown San Jose.  The mission of the Museum is to promote the art, craft, creators and history of quilts and textile art.  While the Museum’s own exhibits and programs take precedence, it may be possible that events such as meeting retreats, receptions, lectures, or parties can be coordinated to match our facilities.  There is an event space separate from the galleries that is available for rentals. Viewing current exhibits is included for your group except during weeks when the exhibits are being changed.

Rental Availability

Requests to view the facilities must be made in advance with the Director of Operations and Resources or the Executive Director. Museum Store and gallery hours are 12pm-5pm Wed-Friday and 11am-5pm Saturday and Sunday.  Rentals outside of these hours must be made at least 30 days in advance.  The facilities are not available Memorial Day, July 4th, Labor Day, Thanksgiving, day after Thanksgiving, Christmas, or New Year’s Day.  San Jose Museum of Quilts & Textiles reserves the right to refuse the rental of any and all facilities should management determine that a given use will either compromise the security of the facilities, or of any artwork on display, or that the use is inconsistent with the mission and the interest of the Museum.  Rentals will not be allowed for parties open to the general public, for commercial use by private groups, or for events for minors where alcohol is served.

Available Spaces

Event Space:  Maximum Occupancy is 48 seated.  Food and drink are only allowed in this space.  This room is suitable for receptions, lectures, or meetings.  There is a space adjacent to where a caterer can set up.

Galleries: There are three galleries that can accommodate up to 200 people.  However, the use of the galleries is limited by the nature of our exhibits.  Some groups have rented chairs and used the largest of the three galleries for lectures or ceremonies.  However, since each of our exhibits is different, a visit is necessary to see what space is available during a particular exhibit.  

Rental Fees

Rental periods need to include preparation, breakdown and clean-up time.
