Escher's art, and are often a central component to quilt designs. Learn how to create your own "tiles" with DIY stamps and explore the infinite ways you can use them to create your own patterns. You'll leave with several stamps of your own design, a stack of printed patterns on paper, and a wealth of ideas for your next project. All materials provided.

In this in-person workshop, we’ll use plastic fencing material as the foundation for our super textural weaving. The fencing offers many options for creating fabulous effects, both with the bottom fringe and with the whole body of the piece, allowing for interesting and dynamic outcomes. We’ll use knotting, wrapping, tying, sewing, coiling and twisting of our materials to build our exciting and stunning pieces to hang on the wall. No weaving experience is necessary, and all levels are most welcome. This is a great project for incorporating all kinds of pieces and parts you may already have on hand, such as fabric scraps, jewelry parts, shells, beads, unfinished project parts, yarn, and other embellishments. The instructor will provide all of these materials, if you don't have any or bring any.

In this in-person workshop, we will explore the map of the stars under which we were born. Each participant will choose to embroider the constellation of either their sun, moon, or rising signs (or that of another person if planning to make it a gift). This workshop is designed for all levels, so beginners will approach this project as a sampler and learn the essential, foundational embroidery stitches; intermediate and advanced participants can incorporate more complex stitches, or opt to embroider their entire Birth Chart. The resulting piece can be incorporated into a pillow, quilt, jacket, or framed.

Get a free copy of your astrological birth chart on https://chart.chaninicholas.com/

  • You will need to input your birth date, time of birth, and location of birth - and select the default “Whole Sign'' house system. Have a screenshot of your birth chart saved to your phone for the class
